Welcome to the Footycards Blog

Whilst its fun to post all the new footy cards that are added to the www.footycards.com.au website, its not all always possible to list each and every one.

Perhaps in the future, this might be the place for it to happen, its one of the things on the 'cards'! :-)

This might also be the place to ask questions to and of the hobby?

Now with the pre-season beginning for most of the AFL teams, the questions begin...

What impact will Chris Judd have on-field at Carlton FC? Will they begin a meteoric rise to the final series? What will happen to Chris Judd's cards and collectibles? Will Chris Judd's first card in a Carlton guernsey be monumental, and will this affect the value or demand for his previous issues in a West Coast Eagles outfit?

Will Geelong continue to walk-over teams in 2008, and what impact will this have on the value of their cards, and if so, which cards will see the greatest increases?

How will the various coaching changes affect their respective teams in 2008?

There were some of the most notable retirements including Brownlow Medallists Nathan Buckley, Mark Riccuito and James Hird, how will this affect the league and possible attendances at some of their team's games?

With a strong 2007 AFL National Draft, will we be fortunate to see any players bust on the scene and make an immediate impact, or will the 3-5 year rule come into play?

Some cool cards worth mentioning -

2007 AFL Bega Cup Collingwood FC - love the design, quality & player selection used in this set

1981 Kellogg's Australian Football Greats - we are fortunate that we have a number of these still sealed in their original plastic cello and paper wrappers - simply awesome, stay tuned for these!

1929 Griffiths Football Series - a handful of these coming soon in excellent condition, including cards previously unknown from 210 - 216. These feature real actual photographs on each card.

1910 The Weekly Times Melbourne - just the one example of one of these, its hard to believe its close to 100 years old!

2003 Select SWANS Team of the Century Captain Signature Bob Skilton - this is by far one of the best and most affordable ways to own an authentic signature of a triple Brownlow Medal winner and an all-time AFL/VFL legend of the game.

2002 AFL Select SPX Draft Signature Series - now 2 of the 16 Draft Pick Rookie's now have a Brownlow Medal - Chris Judd and Jimmy Bartel. Who's next, my bet is that its either Nick Dal Santo or Luke Hodge.
